Tanks

Showing 17–21 of 21 results

Our EcoSafe oil tanks come in a wide range of shapes and sizes to choose from, so you’ll want to consider how much space you have available and the amount of oil you will be consuming. This will be determined by the number of people working on-site and the type of appliances you use.

It is also important to consider whether you are limited by space where you plan on installing your oil tank. If you’re not confined when it comes to space, a larger tank may be more expensive initially, but it will store more oil (allowing for bulk purchases) and will not need refilling as frequently, saving you money in the long run.

Tanks FAQs

What is a Bunded Oil Tank?

A Bunded Oil Tank is a tank within a tank. The fuel is stored in the inner tank and the outer tank acts as a failsafe so that in the event of a spillage, excess fuel will collect in the bund. If you want to learn more about what is a bunded oil tank, please read our dedicated article.

How far away does an oil tank have to be from a building?

Oil tanks with a nominal capacity not exceeding 3,500 litres should not be fitted any closer than 1.8 metres to a non-fire-rated (30-minute minimum fire resistance) wall or eaves. Where these clearances cannot be achieved, the measures noted in British Standard BS 5410 and OFTEC Technical Instruction Book 3 must be provided.

Heating oil tank types

A heating oil tank can be single-skinned (one layer), double-skinned (two layers) or integrally bunded (with a protective layer).

A bunded tank has one tank sitting within another, with the outside tank housing the main tank’s fittings and vents. These tanks give better protection than double-skinned tanks, as there is more room between the two layers to prevent oil from leaking externally.

How do you secure an oil tank?

There are a number of ways you can protect your oil tank. We’ve put together a list of guided security recommendations below:

  1. Use high-quality and strong padlocks
  2. Install a perimeter alarm and a tank alarm
  3. Install motion-activated lights
  4. Install a strong and secure fuel storage tank
  5. Protect access to your storage tank with a cage
